Funded research projects
I am currently professor of Ethnology at the University of Jyväskylä, Finland, and my research interests include:
- magic, witchcraft, and popular religion
- gender and sexuality
- self-educated rural inhabitants' writings to 19th-century Finnish newspapers
- issues surrounding urban poverty in Eastern Africa, including slums, livelihoods, sexuality, and mobile phones for development.
I am leader of the research project funded by the Academy of Finland (2010-2013) entitled "Mobile technology, gender and development in Africa, India and Bangladesh", which employs two anthropologists and two ethnologists. I am also coordinator for the North-South-South teaching network "Living with Informal Settlements, Tackling Urban Poverty (LIFT UP)" which is funded by the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs/CIMO for the period 2011-2013. Our partner universities include Addis Ababa University (Ethiopian Institute of Architecture, Building Construction and City Development (EiABC)), the University of Bamako, the University of Nairobi, and University of Malawi (Chancellor College).

Uma outra coisa maravilhosa que essa danadinha sabe fazer e um boquete do jeito que o povo adora de ver com direito ate mesmo a gozada em sua boquinha.
